DEIA

Riverview's DEIA Mission Statement

Riverview School is a community that values and celebrates diversity as essential to the experience of our students, staff and community. We embrace and respect differences, including but not limited to: race, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, cultural heritage, educational background, and of course learning styles. As a community that aspires to reflect and prepare our students for the increasingly diverse world, Riverview supports and nurtures the whole child and their full identity.

Diversity and Inclusion: Creating an Inclusive and Equitable Community

Riverview School formed a Diversity, Equity Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) committee to explore our policies and programming. A dedicated group met to further embark in rich and robust DEIA training to explore the diverse aspects that impact us as a school and individually. Through trainings, dialogues, book clubs and collaborative work, the DEIA movement grew within our school. Our school’s existence is born out of the Disability Rights movement, with a mission to serving students who are diverse learners. We recognize that much (if not all) of our mission is already rooted in social justice principles. Our faculty and staff seek to affirm and celebrate differences but now, we are exploring our inclusivity and equity in all regards including but not limited to admissions, hiring practices and curricula. We are committed to exploring a schoolwide framework to address ways in which we can create inclusivity with more intentionality in this community.

Our Commitment to a Diverse Workforce

At Riverview School we are committed to developing student competence and confidence. To do this we are committed to developing a diverse workforce by encouraging applicants from persons with disabilities, women, LGBTQA+ and other underrepresented applicants. Riverview is proud to be an equal opportunity employer in the recruitment, application, selection, compensation, retention, transfer, promotion, benefits, work assignment and career progression process without discrimination for reasons of individual’s race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity, age, ancestry, citizenship, military status, disability, genetic information, religion, pregnancy, sexual orientation, national origin, genetic information (including family medical history) and veterans status.
